QIDI Q2C COMBO

ACTION FIGURE 3D PRINTING
IS GETTING BETTER!

As the creator behind 3DZIPGUY, my workflow focuses on two core outputs:

  • High-detail articulated 3D printable action figures
  • Heavy-duty functional household prints

After running multiple machines over the years, the Qidi Q2C Combo from Qidi Technology has become one of the most workflow-compatible printers in my action figure design studio.

Here’s why it fits perfectly into how I design, prototype, and produce.

Compared to similar enclosed-core machines from Bambu Lab, Elegoo, and FlashForge, the Q2C offers slightly more usable build space.

For articulated action figures, Z height is rarely the bottleneck. I almost always maximize the XY area, filling the build plate with:

  • Torso supports
  • Arm and leg segments
  • ziptie-compatible joint parts
  • Accessories and add-ons

That extra footprint means fewer print cycles and more efficient production. Especially for testing new functions and joints.

When printing larger functional parts , brackets, mounts, structural pieces, the additional volume becomes even more valuable.

One of the biggest upgrades to my workflow is material freedom.

The enclosed chamber allows reliable printing of:

  • PLA+
  • ABS
  • PETG
  • TPU

Previously, I printed mostly PLA because managing moisture-sensitive filaments was inconvenient. Moving spools into ziplocks, monitoring humidity, it slowed down experimentation.

With the Q2C Combo’s filament housing system, I can:

  • Keep materials dry
  • Switch between plastics easily
  • Experiment with joint durability

For articulated figures, material choice matters:

  • ABS for structural strength
  • TPU for flexible joints
  • PETG for impact resistance

This opens up design possibilities for future 3DZIPGUY releases.

The Q2C runs relatively quiet during printing.

That means I can:

  • Record voiceovers
  • Edit assembly videos
  • Sculpt new figures
  • Package kits

all while it’s running beside me.

Filament loading is louder and makes a noticeable grinding sound. It’s dramatic, but it works. Since filament changes aren’t constant, it’s not disruptive to daily workflow.

The glass door uses friction hinges, preventing it from swinging freely.

Many in the 3D printing community remember when Uncle Jessy had a glass panel shatter during a livestream due to a swinging door incident.

The Q2C’s controlled hinge movement feels deliberate and studio-safe, a subtle but appreciated design decision.

Without extensive calibration, the Q2C produces clean, more-than-passable prints.

There is still room for tuning and filament-specific optimization. However, for creators juggling:

  • Design
  • Video production
  • Sponsorship integrations
  • Community management

being able to start printing immediately is a major advantage.

I experienced a moment where the printer appeared to lose its Z-offset calibration.

The Q2C is well ventilated, so overheating wasn’t the issue. The problem disappeared after I stopped running:

  • Two 3D printers
  • Multiple lights
  • All from one power strip

Once placed on a more stable electrical setup, the issue never returned.

For multi-printer studios, stable power delivery matters.

Q2C Combo Action Figures

The Qidi Q2C Combo supports:

✔ Efficient batch printing
✔ Engineering-grade materials
✔ Dry filament management
✔ Studio-friendly operation
✔ Reliable out-of-box performance

Most importantly — it removes friction.

I no longer design around printer limitations. The Q2C combo machine adapts to my workflow, resulting to satisfyingly great Action Figures

For articulated action figure production and functional prototyping, that flexibility makes all the difference. My Q2C Combo 3d printed Action Figures are some of my favorite projects so far, because it was just easier to design them.
